UK Guardian slams NZ's green image

Prize for the most shameless two fingers to the global community goes to New Zealand
The news of NZ's measly environmental credentials is reaching the outside world.
THE Guardian's Greenwash column by Fred Pearce today attacked NZ's clean, green image.
No friend of the Earth
But my prize for the most shameless two fingers to the global community goes to New Zealand, a country that sells itself round the world as "clean and green".

I think the environmental finger-pointing really should be aimed at a large country like the US, instead of at a small, remote country like NZ. That said, NZ's "clean, green" campaign has always bugged me.

It was only a matter of time before another dark perspective leaks out. Being outed on family violence didn't seem to make much difference so it will be interesting to see what happens with this blemish on the clean and green reputation.

The shame is it's all political posturing rubbish. 'They aren't as clean as us, so we shouldn't have to reduce our emissions as much until they do..'
Why they don't just grow up and deal with the problem I just don't know..
ho hum, time to start building that ark ;)

I'm a Kiwi myself, but i'm pretty annoyed at the clean green image too. NZ has really done nothing to keep the image true. Infact they have been doing the opposite (with National in parliament).

I'm in the UK at the moment, and with the new government here, green issues are being pushed down the priority list, it seems.
