Win an "outrageous fortune" with This New Zealand Life

Big_Wednesday_listing-logoACCORDING to the Dominion Post, today's Big Wednesday lottery draw is "unprecedented" in the size of the jackpot.

"An outrageous fortune of more than $25 million is set to be won in Lotto's Big Wednesday draw tonight as ticket sales near record levels," says the paper.

So in an attempt to get all excited, to suffer the slings and arrows as it were, and join in with this Kiwi phenomena, I'm buying a $10 lucky dip for readers of This New Zealand Life. (I'd like it to be more, but I have to scrape a few pennies for firewood and that special crust at Christmas... etc)

How do you take part?

Anyone who writes a comment on this website between now and before the draw takes place tonight will be gifted an equal share of any winnings by me, the editor. I'll divide the winnings up by however many people have commented. (And I'll make sure I comment myself).

Only one share per person, naturally, and it's all entirely up to me to decide what's fair and who gets what. Entirely at my discretion, and there will probably be some publicity involved should we actually win.

The Dominion rates our chances as such:

  • Dying in a car crash on New Zealand roads: 1 in 11,000
  • Having caught swine flu by yesterday: 1 in 40,000
  • Being struck by lightning: 1 in 280,000
  • Being elected Prime Minister: 1 in 4,312,532
  • Winning a share of Big Wednesday: 1 in 2,715,020

I don't want to lose out on my own prize now.

You know that the odds of winning are actually 50:50?

You either do or you don't!

Good luck.

Thanks Isabel, at this rate it will be just you and me sharing the outrageous fortune.

and I thought it was such a good idea for attracting new readers...

Let's hope the charity can win something

funds for green worthy causes?

Let's hope we win

As I follow you from England if I win please donate my share to a New Zealand charity which helps people with asthma.

I think I may have missed the time but nevertheless I'm in to win. I couldn't believe the queues on Lambton Quay today. Lotto Fever had definately hit town!

See, I'm much too late. My chances of winning really would improve if I bought a ticket.
